Coherence Neuro joins SPARCLE programme for miniaturised neural implants
The European collaboration brings together neural implant research and bioelectronic medicine, with £720,330 in Innovate UK support allocated to Coherence.
Coherence Neuro is participating in SPARCLE, a European research initiative developing miniaturised implantable pulse generators for bioelectronic medicine. The University of Cambridge announced the collaboration on July 28, 2025. Innovate UK’s project records allocate a £720,330 grant offer to Coherence towards its £1,029,043 share of the work.
The programme combines batteryless implants with flexible conducting polymer electrodes, targeting potential applications in chronic migraine, spinal cord injury and oncology. Coherence’s founders Ben Woodington and Elise Jenkins join Cambridge researcher George Malliaras in the collaboration. The funded UK project runs from May 2025 to April 2028.
