Volare secures €7.1m as Finnish insect-protein factory enters ramp-up
Funding through Springvest, including backing from Maki.vc, will support Volare 01 and preparations for more European facilities.
Finnish insect-ingredient producer Volare has secured €7.1 million in new funding through Springvest, with new and existing investors including Maki.vc. The money will support the ramp-up of its first industrial-scale factory and preparations for further facilities.
The company has completed Volare 01 in Pori, converting a former printing facility into a 10,000-square-metre plant. Delivered within a €15 million capital-expenditure budget, the factory targets annual production of up to 5,000 tonnes of insect protein and 2,000 tonnes of oil. Those figures describe planned capacity as production ramps up.
Volare uses black soldier fly larvae to convert food-industry side streams into ingredients for pet food, aquafeed and agriculture. It has offtake agreements including with Skretting, and is preparing to replicate its production model across Europe. The new financing follows the company’s separately announced €26 million funding in May 2025.
