Starlight Engine develops fusion power plants and leads Japan’s FAST demonstration project.

Product

Established in 2025 as a Kyoto Fusioneering group company, Starlight Engine coordinates the engineering needed to turn fusion research into an operating power plant. Its FAST project targets a demonstration of electricity generation during the 2030s.

FAST uses a tokamak to confine deuterium-tritium plasma. The project brings the fusion system together with energy conversion and fuel handling, while Starlight Engine develops the supporting design, safety, maintenance and supply-chain capabilities needed for a plant. It works with universities, researchers and industrial partners as engineering design and construction preparation progress.
