Sagava secures €1.3m BII follow-on funding for maritime biofuels

The Danish spin-out will advance technology that converts biogenic waste into fuels and energy for the maritime sector.

Turning waste into maritime energy

Sagava is developing a process that converts biogenic waste into drop-in maritime biofuel, biochar and clean energy. The approach is aimed at shipping operators and other maritime businesses seeking lower-emission fuel options while making use of waste feedstocks.

BioInnovation Institute’s €1.3 million follow-on investment comes through its Venture House programme, which adds funding to earlier Venture Lab support alongside continued access to laboratories, advisers and business-development resources. For Sagava, the capital supports further technology development and the move toward commercial applications.
