Newlight raises $9m seed for open-ocean retrofit validation
The financing supports higher-throughput hydrogen-injection hardware and pilots on commercial container vessels.
Named backers include lomarlabs, BIRD Energy, Undeterred Capital, CiRi Ventures and Fusion VC. Newlight plans to expand its marine-engineering and fluid-dynamics teams alongside hardware development.
The company reports more than 20% lower fuel use and emissions on long-range commercial voyages. Planned open-ocean pilots will test its hydrogen-injection retrofit across operating conditions.
