Certain Energy raises £10m Series A for manganese flow-battery deployment
The former RFC Power brings in the British Business Bank as lead investor, alongside Centrica, Ceres and Temasek Trust’s C3H vehicle.
A new name and a route to grid-scale projects
The financing coincides with RFC Power’s rebrand to Certain Energy. The British Business Bank is contributing £3.5 million of the £10 million round, bringing public capital together with energy-sector investors and a climate-focused catalytic vehicle.
The next milestone is a grid-connected system measured in megawatt-hours. Moving to that scale will require the company to demonstrate its technology beyond laboratory development and assemble a supply chain capable of delivering repeatable installations. For renewable generators, the intended result is electricity that can be stored during surplus production and supplied when output falls.
Use of funds
