Broadcom agrees up to $42 billion financing facility for Anthropic
The convertible financing would help fund a five-year TPU capacity commitment.
Broadcom has agreed to provide Anthropic with up to $42 billion in infrastructure financing, according to Reuters reporting on October 1 from Anthropic’s IPO prospectus. The arrangement provides a financing ceiling rather than a completed cash injection.
Broadcom may designate a financing partner, and the notes could convert into Anthropic shares. Anthropic does not expect notes to be sold before its IPO. The facility could fund roughly a third of a separate $125.2 billion commitment to lease TPU computing capacity for five years.
The relationship makes Broadcom both a chip supplier and a financing counterparty. Anthropic warned in the prospectus that this creates potential conflicts around access to compute, hardware pricing and financing.
