AnaCardio develops oral medicines intended to improve heart muscle contraction in people with heart failure.

An oral drug program for heart failure

AnaCardio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing AC01, an oral small-molecule ghrelin receptor agonist. The candidate is designed to improve cardiac contractility through a calcium-sensitizing mechanism. The program originates in research at Karolinska Institutet and focuses on patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction.

From an initial study to a larger trial

The company has reported results from its Phase 1b/2a GOAL-HF1 study and is preparing the larger GOAL-HF2 Phase 2b trial. That study is intended to evaluate two dose levels over 12 weeks in approximately 400 patients. AnaCardio’s development target is to produce data supporting readiness for Phase 3 by 2028.
