Imaging inside the operating room

3Sonic is a clinical spin-out from Rigshospitalet’s SURGiC research group. Its system scans a resected specimen and reconstructs a 3D image, giving surgeons information about whether to remove additional tissue before the operation ends.

The prototype combines custom hardware and specialized software without external tracking sensors. The company reports clinical proof of concept in oral-cancer patients; it is developing the technology for surgical use.
