Coinbase Ventures backs founders at the earliest stages of building crypto and Web3 businesses, investing across the infrastructure and applications of the cryptoeconomy.
Its scope includes layer-one protocols, developer tools, Web3 infrastructure, centralised on-ramps and decentralised finance. The mandate therefore covers both the systems needed to run crypto networks and the products that bring users and capital into them.
The investment organisation’s purpose is to advance the crypto ecosystem in line with Coinbase’s mission of increasing economic freedom. For a founder, relevance rests on the company’s role in that ecosystem rather than on operating a conventional financial application alone.
