Mozilla Data Collective raises $5m from Mozilla
The financing supports broader language coverage and new ways for organizations to share AI datasets.
Mozilla Data Collective will use the $5 million investment to expand video datasets and text collections across European, African and South Asian languages. It also plans new licensing and subscription options for startups and tools that give organisations more control when sharing large datasets.
The British company became independent in 2026 after incubation by Mozilla Foundation. It says more than 350 organisations contribute over 1,700 datasets spanning more than 450 languages, with access and licensing terms set by contributors.
