Antfly raises $2 million pre-seed to expand retrieval engineering
Heavybit leads the round with 8-Bit Capital as Antfly expands its engineering team and support for production customers.
Backing a team with data-platform experience
Antfly announced $2 million in pre-seed funding on September 17, led by Heavybit with participation from 8-Bit Capital. Co-founders James McDermott and AJ Roetker previously built data systems at Lytics. Heavybit also welcomed Antfly to its portfolio that day.
Scaling production support
The company had six engineers at the announcement. Funding will expand product engineering and support for customers deploying its retrieval engine in production.
GeekWire reported that customer Visiting Media used Antfly to index more than 100 terabytes of media and text with a three-engineer team. The system supports retrieval for digital sales proposals. Antfly’s core engine was available for self-hosting, while its managed cloud service was on a waitlist.
