Amani’s financing accompanies an AstraZeneca licensing agreement and the appointment of its operating and clinical leadership.

A financing, licence and leadership team

Amani Therapeutics announced a $25m Series A on March 23, 2026, describing itself as a newly formed biotechnology company backed by RTW Investments. At the same time, it disclosed worldwide rights licensed from AstraZeneca to a Phase 3-ready chemical entity forming part of AM-01.

The announcement also appointed Rob Swoboda as chief operating officer and Carla Canuso as chief medical officer. Swoboda brought experience leading the Cobenfy programme at Karuna Therapeutics, while Canuso brought neuropsychiatric drug-development experience from Johnson & Johnson. AstraZeneca is the disclosed licensor; the announcement does not identify it as an investor.
