Altara raises $7m seed round led by Greylock

Altara’s initial seed financing brings Greylock, Neo, BoxGroup, Liquid 2 Ventures and angels into its scientific software business.

An initial round backed by technical investors

Altara announced $7m in seed funding led by Greylock, with Neo, BoxGroup and Liquid 2 Ventures participating. Jeff Dean was among the named angels; the release also referred to individual leaders at OpenAI and AMD without naming them.

The announcement paired the initial financing with an early customer account from battery company Anthro Energy. Its CTO, Joe Papp, said Altara had reduced analysis work and surfaced useful insights during several months of use. Founders Eva Tuecke and Catherine Yeo bring experience in particle physics, space systems, coding agents and AI research to the company’s scientific software work.
