Alta Ares receives E2D’s first investment
E2D backs Alta Ares as Airbus Defence and Space becomes an anchor LP in the AVP and Earlybird defence fund.
A fund launch connects with an industrial partnership
E2D announced its first investment in Alta Ares on July 21, 2026. The growth fund is jointly owned and advised by AVP and Earlybird. The announcement did not disclose the amount invested in the French defence technology company.
The investment followed a memorandum of understanding between Alta Ares and Airbus Defence and Space to develop and integrate European counter-drone systems into Airbus’ battle management suite. Airbus also became E2D’s anchor limited partner. The €500m figure in the announcement is E2D’s target fund size; Alta Ares’ financing amount remains undisclosed.
