Clinical-stage bioresorbable implants designed to support natural breast-tissue regeneration and mark the tumour bed after lumpectomy.

Supporting reconstruction during breast-conserving surgery

Tensive’s REGENERA implant is a porous, biodegradable scaffold placed in the space left after a lumpectomy. It provides temporary mechanical support while the patient’s own cells and blood vessels grow into the structure, which is gradually absorbed. The related SOFTAG device uses the same material to mark the tumour bed for radiotherapy and follow-up. The devices remain under development and are not commercially available; REGENERA is in a pivotal clinical trial, with European approval targeted for 2027.

Breast surgeons can place the scaffold during tumour-removal surgery, avoiding a separate operation to replace the removed volume. The material is designed to support tissue regeneration while preserving breast shape, then resorb over time; SOFTAG is designed to help clinicians locate the treated area during subsequent radiotherapy and monitoring.
