Supabase lets developers build an application backend around a full Postgres database. Authentication, file storage, generated APIs, server functions and real-time subscriptions sit alongside the database, allowing teams to assemble the services their application needs in one platform.
The open source software can be self-hosted, while the managed platform handles infrastructure for teams building and running applications. SQL and table editors, access policies and vector search support both conventional software development and applications created with AI coding tools.
The company is expanding infrastructure for AI agents that create many isolated databases. Its announced acquisition of Turso brings a complementary approach for provisioning small databases at low cost, alongside Supabase’s Postgres foundation.
