Medical Microinstruments (MMI) makes the Symani robotic microsurgery system for surgeons treating patients who need reconstructive microsurgery or supermicrosurgery. Its wristed instruments scale and steady surgeons’ hand movements for precise work on very small blood vessels and soft tissue.

Robotic assistance for microsurgery

MMI’s Symani system is designed for open microsurgery and supermicrosurgery, where surgeons work on tiny vessels and delicate soft tissue. Wristed robotic instruments translate the surgeon’s movements at a much smaller scale and help reduce hand tremor, extending precision and dexterity for reconstructive procedures.

A system in clinical use

Symani is a commercial surgical system rather than a research prototype. MMI reports a CE mark, U.S. FDA De Novo authorization and commercial installations in Europe, with U.S. clinical cases beginning in 2024. The product is used by surgical teams seeking to perform reconstructive procedures involving structures too small for conventional hand movements alone.
