A nuclear technology company developing fluoride salt-cooled high-temperature reactors for low-carbon electricity generation.

Demonstrating a different reactor cooling system

Kairos Power's KP-FHR design combines TRISO particle fuel with molten fluoride salt coolant. The company is developing a modular reactor system and the manufacturing capabilities required to deploy multiple units.

Its Hermes 2 demonstration plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, began construction in April 2026. The planned 50 MWe grid-connected reactor is intended to establish engineering, licensing and construction experience before larger commercial plants follow.
