Ground A

Germany · Defense tech · Hardware

Ground A develops integrated counter-drone and air-defence systems for military users and operators of critical infrastructure. Its GA 1000 combines radar, sensors, computer vision, AI and a laser effector to detect, classify and track small drones, while leaving the decision to engage with a human operator.

How it works

The GA 1000 combines radar and other sensors with computer vision and proprietary AI to detect, classify and track small drones. After identifying a threat, it can direct a laser effector, but a human operator retains the decision to engage. The system is designed to integrate with existing air-defence and command-and-control systems, as well as land, sea and air platforms.

Ground A is building hardware and software as one system and describes an open, vendor-agnostic architecture. Its planned production approach is modular series manufacturing in Germany.

Customers and maturity

The intended users are military organisations, critical-infrastructure operators and public-safety bodies that need mobile counter-drone coverage. Ground A said in September 2026 that its GA 1000 prototype phase was complete and that the system had moved into testing and validation ahead of market launch; series production was planned for 2027.
