Atoms develops specialised robots and the operating infrastructure behind them for food, mining and transport.
Robotics built around industrial tasks
Atoms brings Travis Kalanick’s food, mining and transport businesses under one company. It combines specialised machines with software, AI, operations and physical infrastructure to automate repeated industrial work.
Its food business builds infrastructure for preparing and distributing meals. Atoms Mining develops systems for more productive mines, while Atoms Transport develops the mobile platforms that move robots. The company designs machines around the task and working environment.
Company structure
Atoms grew out of City Storage Systems. In July 2026, it announced $1.7 billion in equity financing led by a16z and consolidated its operating businesses into one equity structure.
